Terms of Use

Eligibility and parental consent

The service is directed to children, and can be used by children under 13. Accordingly we comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, and we obtain a parent’s approval before collecting a child’s personal information. Consent has two parts: a parent approves the account from a link we email them, and that approval is verified by the subscription payment. A free trial of 14 days runs on approval alone; a paid session does not take place until both are on file.

You accept these terms on your child’s behalf, as their parent or legal guardian, and you confirm that you are legally able to do so. Your child does not register an account, is not asked to accept these terms, and is not bound by them.

We may refuse, suspend or close an account where parental consent cannot be obtained or verified.

The service

Tutor4Me is a mathematics, language arts and science tutor. It sets problems, reads what your child writes and draws, and decides how much assistance to give. It is provided for your personal, non-commercial use.

Artificial intelligence features

The tutor’s responses are generated by artificial intelligence models, including models provided by other companies. You acknowledge and agree that:

Your account

You sign in by means of a link sent to your email address. Anyone in possession of that link can access your child’s record, and you are responsible for keeping it confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account. Please notify us promptly of any unauthorised use.

Subscriptions and payment

Plans and prices are set out on the pricing page. A subscription continues until you cancel it, which you may do from your parent page or through the store where you purchased it. The subscription payment is also what verifies that the person who approved is an adult, which is the second half of obtaining verifiable parental consent. A free trial runs on approval alone; see Privacy.

Termination

You may stop using the service at any time. Deleting your child’s record is immediate and irreversible: once deleted, neither you nor we can recover it.

We may suspend or terminate access where the service is used to attack it, to circumvent payment, or in breach of these terms. We will tell you why.

Changes to these terms

We may modify these terms. Where a change is material we will notify you before it takes effect.
